Organization: Large system integrator/consulting company (Andersen Consulting)
Role: Instructional Designer
Project Type: Instructional design, goal-based scenario
The Implementing Business Systems School was designed as a goal-based scenario to replace traditional instructor-led training with an immersive, learning-by-doing simulation. Participants worked in project teams to achieve a defined engagement goal, analyzing case materials, choosing implementation strategies, interacting with a simulated client, and experiencing the real consequences of their decisions—placing ownership of learning squarely on the participants rather than on instructors. Experienced consultants served as project leads and managers and banking professionals acted as the client.
I was responsible for designing and creating the materials used to orient and prepare the client faculty to perform their roles in the simulation, ensuring their interactions reinforced the realism of the scenario and supported the learning objectives in application design, user experience, detailed design, and system testing during the five-day program. Below you will find the two guides that outline the orientation to the learning experience and their preparation for it.
